Klast was found by a university research team (lead by Miriam Ronison) on the shard of [something]. His mother was able to detect that this rock in the middle of nowhere had some amount of sentience (she is very psychic). She took an interest in a stone with thoughts of their own and took it home. Klast's mother and father slowly taught him to maintain a form/body and communicate with sign language and eventually his own voice. They raised him to be kind and care about others, to help people whenever he can. Klast has no recollection of what he was before his mother's team found him, but he does know that he laid there in that field of rocks for a long long time.
Klast's mother (Miriam Ronison) is a very kind matronly aboleth that loves to educate, her passion is teaching. She uses her psionic powers with people's consent.
Klast's dad (Bodhi Ronison) is a chill surfer dude beholder. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body, he just wants everyone to have a good time.
Klast is a sentient rock person. His body is made up of many small rocks moving in close coordination with each other. He maintains the shape of a bidpedal humanoid, but close observation reveals none of the small stones that make up his body aren't actually attached in any way. Klast wears a shiftweave gown, a cloak of many fashions, and a hat of disguise so the appearance of his outfits change often.
Klast and his family (the Ronison family) run a restaurant and entertainment center called Mac E. Roni's (think somewhere in between a Chuck E. Cheese's and a Dave & Buster's). The management of the restaurant is performed by Klast's mother who ethically mind controls people (they consent to it) for maximum efficiency. While Miriam is controlling their bodies for work, the workers minds are elsewhere and Miriam is simultaneously teaching them graduate level college courses on variety of subjects. She is very knowledgeable about archeology, history, religion, mathematics, and magic. All of the Mac E. Roni employees are essentially gaining a higher level education while they are employed there. No one is held against their will, they all get breaks, vacation, and they are all paid.
