A goliath named [[Varruk]] who had been banished from a village for his crimes returned with a mercenary band known as The Rictus and slaughtered the entire town. 

Kliff  hunted down Varruk to get his vengeance, only to find that he was a catspaw of a Fey master. He let the goliath mercenary live.
