Prince of the Abyss

Dark portents roil the nations of the world. Long ago, a mighty demon prince and his minions were defeated and banished but over the ages that magic has waned against a constant assault from the abyss. As the curtain rises on this unique four-episode adventure, a group of the world’s mightiest adventurers gather to discuss how they can oppose the threat they all can plainly see coming. While the mortal armies allied with the heroes can hold back the main throng of demonic forces, a single decisive attack is required to strike directly at the demon lord and banish them once more. Will the party’s preparation put them in a position for victory? Can these adventurers defeat a demon lord at the peak of their powers, or will the peaceful mortal folk experience an apocalyptic hell on earth never seen before?

Despite being unique states, all three are allies and have fought against larger threats together in the past.

The Metaphysics of Civorea

There are four rough “pantheons” of deities in Aperta-Mundi. Each roughly fits into one of these categories.

The Dead Gods

The Dead Gods were before Aperta-Mundi was created, and will continue once it ends. These beings brought the setting into existence. However, their powerful creative forces are also destructive and turbulent. Just as the furnace may be used to create, it can be used to destroy. These beings have no agenda and absolutely no concern for mortal life.

A few examples of the Dead Gods include:

The Old Gods

The Old Gods were the beings that took the world of Aperta-Mundi from the Dead Gods, and managed to lock away the power of these chaotic, creative beings to make the world their own. For a time, these beings reigned supreme. Each is aloof and does not have the capability or will to interact directly with mortals. However, they do have a stake in mortal life, and will send servitors to act on their behalf.

Examples of Old Gods include:

The New Gods

The New Gods follow the Old, and are much more “hands on” with respect to the mortal world. These are the deities that the living on the world of Aperta-Mundi may even have the rare opportunity to communicate with directly. While ultra-smart and perhaps devious, their goals are understandable if not always wise.

The New Gods include:

The Outer Gods

A number of deities not native to Aperta-Mundi who lend their power to the mortals of this world. These mind-bending beings are typically the source of power for warlocks. They include:
