Toro (played by Nicholle)
Backstory
Toro is the younger of two brothers who were very close. So close, in fact, that around ten years ago, the two decided to move to Welmet together to start a business. They were partway through the process when Toro stumbled upon a group of unsavories, wearing half moons symbols, being shifty, and reported them to the proper authorities. This drew the ire of this particular group, who began harassing and making threats towards Toro, even making attempts at his life once or twice. It got to a point where Toro was constantly on edge, feeling like he was being watched, like any moment someone was going to attack him, like everyone was out to get him. Toro began isolating himself, holding up the process of starting his business with his older brother, Tyr.
Tyr had started to become very worried about Toro. His baby brother’s chipper demeanor had melted away to this scared man who was constantly checking over his shoulder. He could technically move on without him, continuing setting up their business so they could begin making money, but he had promised Toro when they moved that they would be doing this together, and Tyr is not one to break a promise.
Tyr began walking up to Toro’s room, being the smaller of the two, not making much noise. He found the door slightly ajar, and opened it quietly, trying not to alarm him. He approached Toro, putting a hand on his shoulder to try getting his attention.
Toro doesn’t remember much past that. He’s forcefully repressed the memories, as they are too hard to relive. All he remembers is the amount of blood. On his horns, his face, the floor, and most horrifically, his brother.
Toro laid low for quite a while, only reintegrating back into society when he began to run out of money and food. He was able to find a job that paid well enough to keep a roof over his head, and food in his belly. But none of it was enough to quell the immense guilt he felt every day. Walking, living life, when his brother’s life was cut so incredibly short.
One day, he decided to check out the Temple District, looking for some sort of solace. There, he found the temple of Eldath, the goddess’s message of peace resonating with him. He began praying there, eventually volunteering to help out around the temple, feeling like it gave him a purpose, and a small way to redeem himself for the horrible thing he has done.
After helping around the temple for many years, Toro finally decided to dedicate himself to Eldath and took an oath of redemption. He decided to use his immense strength and fighting prowess to help the world, spreading peace and the word of Eldath. He promised to become better, and grow past his horrific act all those years ago.
He simply hopes that when he dies someday, he will get to see his brother again. And that he will be able to forgive him.
