Appearance

Letharr is always depicted in a long black dress and nearly opaque veil. Her dress is simple in its design, featuring only a few lace appliques at its most complex. The skirt is long enough to reach the ground, her shoes never showing. Gloves cover her hands, the black high-neck blouse beneath her bodice further covering every inch of skin. The only part of her that is visible are her eyes, and only barely through the veil. She is always weeping, tears streaming down her cheeks, her makeup streaked down her face. There is a profound sadness in her eyes, but also an intense understanding.

Personality

The Veiled Lady is depicted as a quiet, almost meek Goddess. Those who claim to hear her voice says she speaks just above a whisper, her gentle words working in tandem with her surprisingly warm demeanor to bring comfort to her followers. A kind, deeply empathetic Goddess is at the core of all depictions, but grief is a complex feeling. Letharr is an equally complex deity, capable of a rage so powerful, it causes the oceans to tear apart the land, but also of a love so deep it makes fate bend to her will.

Worshippers & Practices

Letharrans typically don attire similar to what would be worn in times of mourning. While this is dependent on the particular customs of her worshippers, usually Letharrans are clad in black with some sort of veil or other covering over their faces, or they mimic her runny makeup with some of their own. Followers of Letharr typically choose her as their Goddess after suffering a great loss, hoping to wash away the grief with her comforting waters, and then help others work through their grief too. Compassion and selflessness are prized traits of any Letharran cleric, her teachings pushing the importance of empathy above all else.

Worshippers will often leave tokens pertaining to lost loved ones at her altar, or wash them in small bowls of running water found at her shrines. Those struggling with their grief are invited to bathe in larger basins, partaking in a ritual to help both process and release their emotions with help of Letharran priests. Funerals for Letharrans are typically water based, with the person either being given a burial at sea, or their body is cleansed in blessed water before being buried or cremated.
