araki

Araki is a fastidious lizardfolk. He's very much an outsider–his appearance and demeanor very alien to civilized mammalian society. Araki is played by Clint.

The creature before you has two legs, two arms, and a head, but that is where all familiarity ends. The beast stands on long prehensile toes tipped in claws and its legs bend backwards just below the knees. There is a shield strapped to its left wrist and a pack on its back, but those are the only things it wears or carries. The creature’s nude body is entirely covered in scales—just scales.

It is unnerving—distinctly Other. There are no visible genitals, no belly button, and no nipples, just smoothed, polished scales of different sizes and different shades of green and yellow from clawed toe to oblong head. Your primal animal brain wants you to run as you watch it shift in place and it’s polished scales all glisten in the light. It’s head is mostly snout, like an alligator. Strange alien eyes with star shaped pupils are mounted atop and behind its maw. You’re startled the first time you see a membrane under its eyelids swipe back and forth to squeegee its eyes clean. As you stare and try to process the appearance of this alien being, it looks down at its body and it starts casting a spell. As it makes the arcane gestures, you are unnerved to see that the body moves and flexes as you would expect, despite its alien visage.

It’s fingers are too long for its body and, like its toes, are tipped with sharp boney claws. You primal animal brain screams at you to run again as it opens its mouth to speak and its maw is filled with dozens of sharp, deadly teeth. You are now acutely aware that the creature is a predator, and you are prey. You are relieved when the spell sparkles across the predator’s scales and they sparkle a little brighter. Perhaps you should pick up some extra rations in case the predator gets hungry?

Despite his strange and alien appearance, he found acceptance in the Well Met Heroes, and had many hair-rasing scale-scuffing adventures, and made a few friends along the way.

Araki wrote a note to ask a few comrades to help him in the Murderous Woods.

Curtain Call

Araki and the people of Scalewood in the Tasty Wood realize adventurers are a lot like them–outcasts and troubled–and become more open and less xenophobic with them. Araki, as a member of The Order of the Shimmering Scale, a secretive organization of knowledge and lore, assists Callie Shadowblade in breaking her pact with the Matron of Ravens.
