Bwystfil-Dinas

Welcome to Bwystfil-Dinas: The City of Monsters! This remote locale is home to a stable society composed exclusively of sapient monsters races. It may seem a bit strange at first to see a red dragon flying overhead while the gnolls around you go about their day, shopping for luxuries at the Elemental Market or stocking up on essentials at the Giant Farmer's Market, at least at first. Once you see what this lovely and diverse town has to offer, I'm sure you'll grow to love it!

Bwystfil-Dinas is ruled by the G.A.U.D.I. Council, a collaborative group representing the strongest of monster categories: Giants, Aberrations, Undead, Dragons, and Infernals. The current leader of the Giants is a storm giant named Wambus Troubleslam (he/him). A beholder named Oculon (they/them) represents the aberrations and “little folk”. Aminia Twain (she/her) the lich gives voice to the undead populations. The ancient black dragon, Queen Fritchey (she/her), stands for the dragons. The speaker for the infernals alternates frequently between Hutijin (he/him), the Devil Prince and the Demonic Prince of Beasts, Baphomet (any).

Other notable groups in the city are the West Side Kobolds. They are a gang composed primarily of small reptilian creatures, and are known for petit crime activity in their part of town. They are in an ongoing rivalry with the East Side Kobolds, a different gang consisting of predominantly medium-sized dog-like creatures with their own criminal territory.

The South Side Gnolls have a home base, but don't try to maintain a set region. Instead, they go forth to sow chaos in the neighboring gangs. The North Side Lizardfolk are the least aggressive of the four, but woe to any trespassers, lest they be forced into the arena death pits.

You don't have to worry too much about those groups, unless you enter their territory, as the city guard is run by the indefatigable Undead Corp. Revenant investigators with skeleton and zombie officers ensure that the majority of day to day life can proceed peacefully.

City life does have its perks, in the form of entertainment! You may have heard of one-person bands, but we have a one person orchestra; Hercules the Hydra puts in weekly performances in the Wisteria Theater. If storytelling is your preference, this same theater also hosts frequent plays performed by an ensemble cast of shape-changers and mimics.

If the hustle and bustle of downtown life gets to be too much, you can always visit the various farmlands of the Giants on the outskirts of town. Each farm raises a significant portion of the fruits, vegetables, and livestock to feed the city. Tomatoes, cherry trees, and cattle may sound familiar, but they take on a whole new dimension when they are scaled up to the size of Giants. Despite the size, the farms are peaceful places in a pleasant climate.

If nightlife is what you're looking for, the orcs are the ones to find! Many a tavern can be found across the town, run by a friendly orc or two. They typically cater to other goblinoids, so it may get a little rowdy at times, but there is always fun to be had.

There are also plenty of caves to explore in the mountains surrounding the city. Most of these are homes to the various dragons who reside here. Make sure you have permission to explore before venturing into one, though, as most dragons enjoy decorating their lairs with assorted traps.

Finally, for those with an eye for business, the demons and devils work together as a trade guild to ensure goods get to where they need to go. They work with everyone in town to find various needs, then use those connections to source them efficiently. Some sections even have access to multi-planar travel, though that always comes with an upcharge!

You'll find there is something for everyone here, at Bwystfil-Dinas! From the crypts below to the floating temples above, there is always something new to discover!
