If you need help, you’ll get a hand from Gill Spindrift. A Water Genasi of quick feet and open heart who was born to simple means. Gill has a swimmer’s build, hair the color of seaweed, black eyes, and pale blue skin.
Gill was born on the outskirts of the land of Leng, across the Windless Sea. Leng is traditionally a poor land with little economy, his family worked all day plying the sea for fish to sell and eat. At night, they mended line and net to best prepare for the next day. A Genasi son was very much a surprise to his human parents, and also to the downtrodden and suspicious townsfolk about them. He worked hard at a young age with his family, earning scars on his hands and tongue from mending line.
As with all children that age, his peers became merciless about his being different. When the bullying became worse, and Gill returned home with scars from more than line and twine, his parents sent him for education at the Monastery of the Plum Flower. This Monastery is a distant school that charged no tuition, which is exactly what they could afford. This was the first time Gill was away from the sea and his family. He learned lessons of harmony and seeking peace, which helped him fight his anxiety about being away from home and no closer to water than the small river near the school. He also learned martial lessons that taught him the art of denying his previous bullies and the fear he once carried for them.
Now that he has mastered enough teachings to leave the dormitory, Gill returned to the sea to travel and to represent the teachings of his school. He travels to see new lands and find new fish, to seek peace through balance, and to aid those that cannot aid themselves. And he has found himself arriving in Welmet…
