Before the Sundering, a being named Ao kept all the planes in order. The progression of the seasons, the sunrise, the stars, gravity, the Inner and Outer planes, essentially all of the “rules” of metaphysical reality were kept true by this supreme intelligence. This divine artisan shaped the physical world from pre-existing chaotic matter, acting as a creator but usually subordinate to all the known deities and principles that have followers and schemes. This being had no ego to speak of, and was mostly left alone.

The Sundering came about when four opposing forces of the Outer Planes schemed to destroy Ao and take his power for themselves. Ultimately, they were only successful because Ao wished it to be so. The Demiurge themself was broken into “slivers” that were then free to experience the universe themselves as “mortals.”

However, without the Demiurge to keep the rules of the metaphysical reality together, the Aetherverse is tearing itself apart. Is there a way to put Ao back together again?
