On the fringes of the Empire of Blossoms is a small shard of mountainous terrain with an interior cave system called “The Fractured Mountain.” On this shard, the remnants of the Dwarven clans have created an Alliance called “The Pact.” The remaining dwarves have all come together under a descendent of Clan Hillsafar. In exchange for protection and a significant tithe, The Pact was able to secure the technology for magiponic farms from the Empire of Blossoms. Currently led by Thane Umiznut Hillsafar, the Dwarves continue to live in peace as farmers while continuing to pay a significant tithe to the Empire of Blossoms. Most Dwarves resent this, as they believe they have paid the Empire back many fold, but they know they do not have the power to change their situation and begrudgingly accept it.
Within the Fractured Mountain, and running one of these farms were Gasum and Savilda Barrelhouse. Descendants of the Madbeards, they eventually had a single child named Gutboy. Gutboy grew up on the farm, learning how to handle animals, learning about nature, and learning how to fix things around the farm. When in the home he quickly discovered his love for eating, which led him to his love for cooking. Having grown up on such a small shard he had not known the diversity of cuisine available to him. His call to adventure occurred when he learned of the Wellmet Station and its many voidgates, access to other cultures and cuisines, and the thought of being able to gather exotic ingredients. Once on the Wellmet he became fascinated with its history and some of its early heroes. He became enamored with the story of Ingirix and seeks to protect and bring peace the only way that he knows how, through strength and violence.
