Major Plot Points
- The Homeshard Heroes arrive on the shard of Shadowhaven, a shard famous for its deep, dark red wine vintages. They were dispatched by the officials of Flaygallows that something is amiss. Everyone has fallen into a curse that creates dark, disturbing dreams that disturb sleep and food and drink has begun to taste like ash and sawdust.
- Lith and Psitheris both arrived to follow some dreams they have been having about a disturbed dryad in the woods.
- The heroes ask a few questions of Maddox the helpful Shadar-Kai who mans the aethership docks.
- The party passes by the “gatehouse” as they enter the small village of about a thousand Shadar-Kai souls. It is manned by a very drunk guard.
- They visit the sheriff who tells them about several rumors including information about the village's madwoman.
- There is a statue to the village's creator that stands in the square of Shadowhaven.
- The Madwoman of Shadowhaven is a widow believes that the teen child she brought home from a recent trip to Flaygallows was a monster made of shadows rather than her actual son. The locals whisper that she is the one culpable for the child's disappearance. She repeatedly sings a lullaby over and over.
- Rock a bye baby down by the dock; when the sun sets the cradle will rock; deep in the forest the shadows will creep; and then my sweet boy will be fast asleep.
- The heroes meet Macsen, Maddox's scheming twin.
- The heroes stop by the church of Pelor and meet the acolytes who watch over it.
- Most of the heroes stop at the inn named the Gilded Grape.
- Gutboy and Lith do some gambling at a different establishment where they hear some rumors.
- The next morning the Homeshard Heroes are attacked in their sleep by shadow-possessed giant rats.
- The heroes check out the church, but are disappointed to learn that it is not the source of the darkness that has possessed the village.
- As the Homeshard Heroes make their way out of the village into the forest, they are attacked by lanky, shadowy faceless ogres. The dryad from the druids' dreams appears and attacks. After she is defeated, she is able to articulate the curse that has befallen the village. A tunnel to a place beyond time and space from whence the lanky, shadowy figures are trying to emerge is re-opening. The might of the village's founder is waning, brought low by the actions of one of Shadowhaven's own.
