Trade Routes
“I would like to know more about the trading/shipping companies of Welmet Station. Major companies, trade partners, types of cargo, etc.”
There is a significant amount of new trade routes recently opening up between Welmet and Flaygallows. This trade route continues to get stronger and more lucrative as the campaign goes on as a matter of fact. The simple Shadar-Kai of the Flaygallows are just now learning to experience new and exciting colors and flavors. In exchange, they have several voidship manufacturing facilities and drydocks as well as forges and factories for more finished goods.
There is a slowly increasing amount of trade with the colonies that serve the Empire of Blossoms. Raw goods are sent directly from these colonies to the Welmet for processing and simple goods are then shipped back to the core of the Empire.
Several trade routes run regularly to Gamma Metropolis, bringing raw materials in exchange for finished goods back to the Welmet.
Crannathragh is probably the only truly viable trade partner in the province of Nemedobur since it’s the most settled and “safe” shard in the system, and Voyagers already go on foraging and hunting missions there anyway for valuable medicine and alchemy supplies. Trade there would be mainly done by residents of Crannathragh, but usually facilitated/supervised by a couple Voyagers to make sure trading partners respect the Crannathragans and the shard’s special environment. Luaighear is also an up and coming Voyager-settled shard with valuable mineral resources and spell components in the mountains and ice, so there might be some light trade done there to fund Voyager settlement and excavation efforts.
Any other trade for resources from other Nemedoburran shards would be done sparingly and only when Voyagers find anything worth trading to keep the organization going, so they might be a hot commodity on the rare occasion they hit the market. Samples that could still be used for something safely after research is complete might also be traded/sold at the HQ on the WelMet. Savai, the resident genius (besides Caelus), would be in charge of any of that.
Voyagers would likely also sell any of the things they create using resources found on the shards, like potions or armor, if they decide they have enough backstock for their own use. Some things might be guaranteed to always be for sale, like anything with Baila Berries since they’re easy to cultivate, so the organization can keep a steady cash flow that way. They’re also happy to sell any of their loaner equipment if someone wants to keep what they borrow it, or if they wanna lease it for non-Voyager use.
So they sell a little bit of anything, but it’s never truly consistent due to their personal stock always changing, which dips into what they can safely sell. They’re generally reluctant to trade resources from shards besides Crannathragh since other shards don’t have as bountiful or easily renewable resources, and they want to preserve the natural environment of each shard as much as possible. That’s why they keep an eye on all of the shards in the system to try to prevent poachers and pirates from tearing apart the various shards for their valuables. And also because there’s like a 90% chance said criminals will kill themselves if they try, and that’s a lot of paperwork.
