Named People and Places

  • The Ash King - The title of the ruler of the ruined Feywild in pre-Sundering times

The Shadowfell Warlords praised his work crushing the peoples of the Feywild and his attacks against the civilized folk of the Prime Material Planes. A war criminal sentenced to the Vault of Regret for eternity, he recently escaped.

  • Yerbie - A member of the L.O.S.E.R.S

Major Plot Points

  • Just after the Sundering began, Rotheon Gearbit was searching a crystal cavern for parts to help their adopted elven family of Gearbits when they witnessed an assault force of Shadar-Kai appear from a planar gate. The young Assimar only heard “There’s one! Petrify them for later!” before they were hit with a Flesh to Stone spell from a warlock's black wand.
  • In the present day, Reed entertains several of the Homeshard Heroes in the Beastial Bites and Brews tavern on Roadhouse shard. Elydra, Lith, Morek, and Slate are all enjoying the aesthetic and potables.
  • The peace is broken by two tough mercenaries named Tiberio and Merto with a crew of freshly-created Malmyrdons. They begin to cause trouble in the place, but with the help of the entire crew of Homeshard Heroes these two are driven off back to their voidship. They speed off to another portion of the Roadhouse shard leaving a petrified Assimar in a wooden cart.
  • The heroes manage to revive the Rotheon from the cart and there is a sweet scene wherein Rotheon mourns the loss of all those that they once loved.
  • Later that night, the mercenaries return with another voidship and their leader Sithslip the Radiant Undying. This warlock uses powerful plot magic to cripple nearly all of the voidships on the docks of the shard. He calls out that the small settlement that surrounds Beastial Bites and Brews tavern has one day to turn over whomever beat up Tiberio and Merto. He leaves with a great, evil cackle.
  • The Homeshard Heroes realize that these Gamma Co contracted mercenaries are probably looking for treasures from the past. The Roadhouse shard has three unexplored areas they could be hiding in. An abandoned Shadar-Kai Military Base from early Sundering times, two types of Crystal Caverns, and a Fungus Forest.
  • The party decides to look into the military base first. They find a tower that once belonged to a Shadar-Kai warlord. They realize that it is magical and can transport itself through space. Unfortunately, it has its “check engine” light on and won't teleport anymore.
  • The Homeshard Heroes investigate a command headquarters bunker. There they discover a voidspan gate to Flaygallows as well as a torpid voidspan gate to the Empire of Blossoms.
  • The party learns much from the last remaining records which they piece together as a history of the early Sundering as the Shadowfell Arises.
  • The iconography here shows how the Ash King of the Feywild fought back against the Shadar-Kai warlords with all their might. It is interesting that the Leprechaun guerrilla force that manages to survive adopted a symbol that looks very much like the Gamma Co. logo.
  • The heroes find the mercenaries in the green crystal caverns. They are attacked by a stalagmite monster with tentacles as they try to sneak up on the Malmyrdon guards.
  • At the back of the cavern the Homeshard Heroes find loot, provisions, Malmyrdon ritual makings, and three petrified beings also from the early Sundering period. These three end up being Bartleby, Candyland, and Yerbie.
  • The mercenaries return on their mosquito voidships. After a great battle in which the ships are rammed into one another, the Homeshard Heroes are victorious.
  • Reed helps all the travelers to Roadhouse fix their Voidships following the attack on the docks by Sithslip the Radiant Undying. Reed then offers passage on the nugget for free tips to anyone who was still stranded on the Roadhouse.

  • Two nights later, a few of the Homeshard Heroes meet at the Bestial Bites and Brews to discuss the recent adventures on the shard of Roadhouse. Lith, Reed, and Slate are joined by Klast.
  • The heroes speak to Yerbie, one of the other individuals saved from petrification. He is a dwarven leprachaun with a chip on his shoulder.
  • Klast offers his mother's mind-control services to Reed for his employees.
  • They discuss the nature of gemstones. Reed points out that there are some beneficial ones like the ones that powered the “Home” Voidship, while there are others that are sinister and parasitic like those described by Caelus.
  • The homeshard heroes venture out into the Fungus Forest and meet a few of the friendly fungus folk. These beings are very much like the caretakers of the Vault of Regret below Flaygallows.
  • Unfortunately, they also meet the native monstrous stick-men with the head of a fly trap plant known as Miscipula. They attack looking to slay the Homeshard Heroes' new friends. After a brief fight, Reed and Lith learn the “Cleansing Salve” recipe from the Fungus Folk.
